Betrand Peto 'Addicted' to Badminton Even Though He Has to Be Satisfied with Being Runner-Up

The celebrity sports event always has exciting stories to follow, and this time it's the turn of the talented young singer Betrand Peto Putra Onsu who caught attention. In the event titled Sportstive+: Badminton Edition held in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Saturday (11/4/2026), the boy affectionately called Onyo performed passionately. Even though he had to accept the bitter reality of being the runner-up, the spirit of the adopted son of Ruben Onsu did not fade at all.

Competing in the mixed doubles category, Onyo paired with the beautiful singer Rara Sudirman. The two had to face the deadly duo Samuel Cipta and Nabila Taqiyyah. The match was very intense, forcing a rubber set. Although they ultimately had to acknowledge their opponents' superiority, Onyo admitted he was still proud because he had given his all on the green court.

"Whatever happened earlier on the court, that was our maximum effort, right, Rara? Don't think about this mistake or that mistake, I made a lot of mistakes too." "This is just a fun game," said Betrand Peto after the match at Sportstive+, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Saturday (11/4/2026).

This teenager, who is now growing into adulthood, is indeed known for having a very high competitive spirit. He does not deny that there is a slight feeling of "ouch" because he failed to bring home the first-place trophy. Onyo joked that since leaving home, his mentality was set to win, but apparently, lady luck was on his opponent's side.

"It's not really disappointment, it's more like 'Oh, why didn't I win first place again?'. I should have been set to win first place since I left home," he said while laughing heartily.

Meanwhile, Rara Sudirman, who is a graduate of this vocal talent search event, revealed one of their main obstacles. Apparently, the very tight rehearsal time became a stumbling block for this pair. They only had two days to build chemistry, while their opponents had been preparing far in advance with a heavier training schedule.

"We had two days (of practice), but they had a week, right?" Rara remarked. Onyo then chimed in with sincere praise for Samuel and Nabila, who performed very solidly throughout the match. "Good, they are good. The first round was good, and the second round was even better," Onyo praised his rivals.

Onyo was also seen looking very emotional and ambitious in the middle of the field, especially during the point chase. He realized that his overwhelming desire to win sometimes made him lose control. This was what often caused him to rush in executing attacks, which backfired on his own team.

"The difficulty is mostly because I was too hasty, too ambitious to win," Onyo honestly expressed about his performance on the field.

Interestingly, this loss actually sparked a new passion for Onyo to take this badminton sport more seriously. He feels an extraordinary sensation when he successfully launches a powerful smash into the opponent's area. So much so that he even joked he was ready to leave his football hobby for a while to delve deeper into the techniques of playing badminton more competently.
