Kapanlagi.com - Betrand Peto is now not only busy with his activities as a singer and young star, but also with college life. The son of Ruben Onsu and Sarwendah shares his story about the differences between high school and campus life that he is currently experiencing as a new student.
“It’s different, high school and college lessons are really different. Usually, I enter at 7 AM and finish at 4 PM, if this is also the same time, but the subjects are different,” said Betrand when met in the Senayan area, Central Jakarta, on Monday (11/11/2024).
Betrand explained that his activities on campus start at 8 AM and finish at 4 PM, although on Thursdays his classes are shorter, only until 12 PM. Betrand chose Public Relations (PR) as his field of study.

He admitted to being interested in the world of communication and wanting a new challenge outside the entertainment field he has been involved in. “While other public figures study entertainment at UNG, I can learn entertainment from my Dad and Mom. I want to be different from others and learn how to speak better, so I chose communication,” he said.
Regarding the decision to pursue PR, Betrand revealed that he had discussed it with his mother, Sarwendah, who asked about his major choice. “Mom asked what major I wanted to take. At first, I thought about studying medicine, but it turned out to be difficult, so I decided not to,” he said with a laugh.
2. Choose Communication
When asked about the reason for withdrawing from the Medical Studies program, Betrand admitted that he felt it would be tough to dive into such a technical field. “I think being a doctor is too hard, and I also considered being a police officer. I was thinking of a major that has a lot of practical work, but in the end, I asked my friends at campus about communication,” he added.
Through conversations with his friends, Betrand ultimately felt more confident in choosing the PR major. “I asked, ‘Is communication nice?’ A friend replied, ‘The only hard part is during presentations, because you have to present in English,’” he said.
Unlike the entertainment major, which is more practical because it is often experienced in daily life, Betrand actually wants to learn something new that is more challenging. According to Betrand, this PR major is expected to hone his public speaking skills, which will be very useful for his future career.
“I feel that PR can provide new challenges and teach formal communication. I will learn to speak more neatly and clearly,” he expressed.
