Starting a Career as an Animator, This is the Reason Chiki Fawzi, the Youngest Child of Marissa Haque, Studied Animation in Malaysia

Chiki Fawzi is the youngest daughter of artist couple Ikang Fawzi and the late Marissa Haque. Before becoming an artist, she started her career as an illustrator and animator, and even worked at a famous animation company, Les' Copaque.

It is known that Chiki indeed took an animation major. She studied at Multimedia University (MMU), Malaysia around the 2000s. Recently, the reason why Chiki Fawzi chose to study in the neighboring country has been revealed. Stay tuned for more!

Initially, Chiki considered studying in Indonesia. She wanted to study at ITB but was hindered by the lack of approval from Ikang Fawzi and the late Marissa Haque.

"I want to take (the major in) fine arts, really want to go to ITB. I want to take sculpture because I really like creating things. Then my parents were worried and did not give their blessing. In the end, I looked for another major that my parents would be okay with," said Chiki, as reported via TikTok hasrilbahar.

Not only that, Chiki is also hindered by the high costs if she chooses to study in the major she wants. Both domestically and abroad.

"Then the tuition fees (for college) are still reasonable. Back when I was in Indonesia, animation was not yet common, and abroad it is also expensive," said the younger sister of Bella Fawzi.

Finally, Chiki decided to study in Malaysia because of the lower costs and the good campus portfolio. Chiki mentioned that the Upin Ipin animation was produced by her seniors at that campus.

"After calculating, the costs are cheaper than private universities in Indonesia. So why not," said Chiki.

"Finally found (a university) in Malaysia that has very reasonable prices. The works are good, like I see the results are really great. One of them is that Malaysian animation has really risen. Upin Ipin and so on, because it was created by the seniors at the campus," concluded the 35-year-old woman.
