Starting today, Nicholas Sean Purnama is officially a doctor, Wednesday (23/10). He was sworn in as a doctor at the University of Indonesia, after almost giving up on completing his studies.
It took 8 years for the eldest child of Ahok and Veronica Tan to complete his medical education. He admitted he couldn't believe he made it to this point.
Nicholas Sean Purnama is now officially titled as a doctor. Today he was sworn in as a doctor and the event was attended by Ahok, Wednesday (23/10).
After being sworn in as a doctor, Sean wore a white coat. He admitted that he once couldn't believe he could reach this point.
"This morning I took the oath of a Doctor. A point where I never imagined this could come true," wrote Ahok's eldest child on his Instagram account.
"It took 8 years to finally realize my father's dream, that one of his children would become a Doctor. Although it took time, money, and extra effort, Dad never gave up and always believed that his child could get through everything and reach this point. Thank you for supporting my education, Tania, and Daud financially," he continued.
"A few years ago I wanted to give up, because the path was truly difficult. I told Dad, and he didn't force me to continue my internship and left the decision about my life to me, and he would continue to support whatever decision I made. This became my turning point to keep trying, not for others. But to prove to myself that I can finish what I started," Sean continued.
Sean also expressed his gratitude to his mother, Veronica Tan, who has supported him all this time. "Thank you also to Mama, Popo, my beloved siblings, and everyone who helped me until I could become a Doctor. I will never forget your contributions," he concluded.
The oath-taking ceremony for Doctor Sean went smoothly. Ahok came with his mother, but Veronica Tan was not present.
