Sad news is currently surrounding Bimbim Slank. His beloved father, Sidharta M Soemarno took his last breath on Monday (4/3). The deceased has been buried at TPU Karet Bivak Jakarta on Tuesday (5/3) afternoon. Now, there are only sweet memories of the father that have left a deep impression on Bimbim and his family. Slank's manager, Ramadhani or better known as Bang Denny, mentioned that Bimbim's father, the late Sidharta M Soemarno, played a significant role in Slank's career in the Indonesian music industry.
The thing he remembers the most is that the late willingly freed his house as a hangout place that became the birthplace of the Slank Band Group.
"When we used to hear the story, he really liked riding motorcycles. Until we grew up, he often attended Slank concerts without being recognized. He always supported us since the CSC era (Cikini Stone Complex)," said Band Denny at TPU Karet Bivak, South Jakarta, Tuesday (5/3/2024).
"Always supporting us even though it's not visible like a mother. But behind this, the late provided us with a lot of support, including freeing his house as a gathering place until it eventually became the Slank headquarters," added Bang Denny.
In a different occasion, Bimbim revealed that his father often secretly watches Slank performances. "Once, my dad didn't say anything but suddenly Slankers said 'I suddenly met Mr. Sidharta'. So Slankers helped him because he didn't say anything. He watched from the back, pushed around," said Bimbim.
His father's habit of secretly watching Slank performances makes Bimbim suspicious every time Slank performs, especially in Bali. "Yes, he's the type who suddenly does that. Especially when Slank is in Bali, we suspect that he might be there because he likes to suddenly appear. He's spontaneous, he does whatever he wants. Buys a ticket to watch, goes home alone," said Bimbim.
Bimbim also revealed that the last time his father watched a Slank concert was during the celebration of the band's 40 years of existence.
"That was the last time I watched Slank's concert, dad, I joined on his fortieth birthday," Bimbim concluded.
