Kapanlagi.com - Nia Ramadhani was seen crying and wiping her tears after hearing the one-year prison sentence for drug abuse that implicated her, on Tuesday (11/1/2022). The same sentence was also imposed on her husband, Ardi Bakrie, and their driver, Zen Vivanto.

"Imposing criminal punishment on the defendants Zen Vivanto, Ramadhania Ardiansyah Bakrie, and Aninda Ardiansyah Bakrie with one-year prison sentences each," said the chairman of the panel of judges, Muhammad Damis.

Upon hearing the verdict, the three defendants, represented by Ardi Bakrie, filed an appeal. "We are filing an appeal," said Ardi Bakrie.

1. Diam Membisu

After the trial, Nia and her husband refused to say a word about the verdict. They continued to walk out of the courtroom and immediately left using a white Alphard car with license plate number B 164 NB that was waiting for them.

As known, Nia Ramadhani, her husband Ardi Bakrie, and their driver, Zen Vivanto, were arrested by the narcotics unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police on July 7, 2021.

The three of them were arrested after using methamphetamine together. In the arrest, the police confiscated evidence of used methamphetamine weighing 0.5 grams and the paraphernalia.

2. Not Qualified as Addicts

After the examination, on July 10, 2021, based on the recommendation of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), the three of them underwent rehabilitation for 4 months at a rehabilitation center in the Bogor area. During the trial, the Public Prosecutor demanded that the three defendants undergo 12 months of rehabilitation.

However, in the verdict, the Panel of Judges rejected the Public Prosecutor's demand. The judge, in his consideration, assessed that the three defendants did not qualify as addicts and victims of drug abuse who needed rehabilitation.

"Because the defendants do not qualify as addicts and victims of narcotics, the rehabilitation they have undergone cannot be counted as part of their sentence," said the judge.

3. Punishment Already Considered

The judge sentenced three defendants to one year in prison. This is also after considering several aggravating and mitigating factors.

"Aggravating, the defendants' actions do not support the government's program to vigorously eradicate drugs, the actions of defendants 2 and 3 as public figures who should set a good example for society but behave otherwise," said the judge.

"On the other hand, the defendants' mitigating circumstances are that they have never been previously sentenced and they admit and promise not to repeat their actions. The defendants have family responsibilities," said the judge.

4. Prosecutor's Demand Rejected

In the verdict, the panel of judges rejected the demand of the Public Prosecutor to sentence the three defendants to 12 months of rehabilitation.

In their consideration, the judges assessed that the three defendants do not qualify as addicts and victims of drug abuse who need rehabilitation.

"Because the defendants do not qualify as addicts and victims of narcotics, the rehabilitation they have undergone cannot be counted as serving their sentence," said the judge.

5. Nervous

Just before sitting in the defendant's chair, Nia and Ardi briefly answered questions from the media about their preparations to face the judge's decision.

"We'll see later. Yes, we have to be sincere. Just surrender," said Nia Ramadhani.

"Nervous, yes. Just pray for the best," added Ardi Bakrie.
