Celebrating Christmas Amidst the Pandemic, Marcel Chandrawinata Chooses to Stay at Home

Kapanlagi.com - Marcel Chandrawinata admits that this year's Christmas feels different due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Christmas celebration, which is usually filled with holiday vibes, made Marcel and his wife choose to stay at home.

"Initially, we wanted to go to Bali, but we're afraid that we won't be able to control ourselves in Bali and forget about health protocols, so it's better to just stay at home," said Marcel when met at the opening event of the largest Hush Puppies store in Indonesia at Mall Kelapa Gading 3, North Jakarta, on Saturday (26/12/2020).

1. Not Going Overseas

The same goes for his extended family like Mischa and Nadine Chandrawinata. Marcel said that his siblings also didn't celebrate Christmas by traveling out of town or abroad.

"(This year) our whole family will be together here until New Year's, usually everyone goes somewhere," said Marcel.

Although they don't have to travel to celebrate Christmas, the Christmas atmosphere in the Chandrawinata family still feels enjoyable.

"Every year, we exchange gifts, and two days ago we also exchanged gifts with Mischa and Nadine, as a family. The only difference is that this year it's not christmas but christ-mas, because everyone is wearing masks but it's okay," he said.

2. Choose a Gift

To choose a gift, Marcel admits that he prefers to search in general stores, which provide all consumer needs.

"So I usually look for gifts there. Like here, Hush Puppies has a complete selection, so I'm really happy to come here," he said.

3. Health Protocols

Andreas Agi, the Marcom Manager of PT Transmarco for Hush Puppies, also welcomes what Marcel said. According to Agi, Hush Puppies store located in Mall Kelapa Gading 3 is the largest in Indonesia.

"Everything needed is available in the store located on the 1st floor of Mall Kelapa Gading. So we provide everything here, this is indeed the largest and most complete store. Everything you're looking for is here, from shoes, wallets, towels, and more. This is our first largest store. In the future, if there are no obstacles, we will open another large store in Aeon Sentul, maybe in the middle of next year," Agi explained.
