The passing of Titiek Puspa left a deep impression on her family and relatives. Her daughter, Petty Tunjungsari, revealed that there was a special message her mother conveyed before she passed away. One of them was a request for mourners to wear white clothing during the funeral.
"So, for five years now, she has had a message like a special message, ‘later when I die, you all come, my relatives come wearing (white) clothes, okay? You must wear white clothes because I don’t like black clothes,’" said Petty Tunjungsari when met at TPU Tanah Kusir, Kebayoran, South Jakarta, Friday (11/4/2025).
Petty explained that the request should not be taken lightly. As a Javanese person, she interprets her mother's will as a mandate that must be carried out, not just an ordinary instruction.
"If I refer to my mother, as Javanese people, what my mother says is more than just instructions; it is a mandate that, if violated, can be dangerous," continued Petty.
The request to wear white clothing is a final tribute to Titiek Puspa, who is known as a great artist and an inspirational figure for many people.
As an artist, Titiek Puspa is said to have her own judgment about the color of clothing and wishes to be remembered in a bright atmosphere, not in dark mourning.
Petty emphasizes that her mother's request is not without meaning. The chosen white color symbolizes hope for tranquility and sincerity.
She also feels relieved that family and relatives can wholeheartedly honor the legend's last request. The funeral of Titiek Puspa was filled with emotion, with the color white dominating the farewell ceremony that was full of respect
