"I once collaborated with Eyang when he created songs for Indonesian children. And I was involved in the production all the way to the music video," said Giring when met at the funeral home in Pancoran, South Jakarta, on Friday (11/4/2025).
He witnessed firsthand how Titiek Puspa remained enthusiastic even while shooting from morning until night. "From morning until night, Eyang's energy never runs out. His love always invites the children to joke around, always encourages us to joke around," he reminisced.
Giring believes that the humorous and loving attitude of Titiek Puspa is a distinctive trait that is memorable and not easily forgotten. "I think that is what inspires not just a maestro but a human being full of love in every touch, every word, every step," he said.
For him, the departure of Titiek Puspa is a great loss for the Indonesian nation, especially in the world of arts and culture. "We, Indonesia, have suffered a great loss; she was a maestro," he emphasized.
Nevertheless, Giring is confident that Titiek Puspa's works will continue to live on and be revived by the next generation of artists. "Her works will be eternal, and we young artists will keep remaking them," he continued.
Not only songs, Giring mentioned that there are many documentaries and visual recordings of Titiek Puspa that can serve as references for the younger generation. "There are so many of her footages that can truly be a reference for young artists and cultural figures," he said.
He hopes that the spirit and works of Titiek Puspa can continue to be preserved as a cultural heritage. "Grandma Titiek Puspa's works must be preserved so that they inspire the younger generation," concluded Giring. /aal
