The divorce decree between Baim Wong and Paula Verhoeven has finally been officially announced by the South Jakarta Religious Court. During the legal process, several important facts were revealed, including the psychological condition of their children.
According to Baim Wong's attorney, Fahmi Bachmid, their children are said to be experiencing trauma related to Paula. This was disclosed based on expert testimony presented during the trial. /far
"It has been proven based on expert testimony that the child is traumatized by their mother (Paula Verhoeven), it is strange for a child to be afraid of a parent," Fahmi stated at a press conference in the Antasari area, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (16/4/2025).
Fahmi also emphasized that in child custody cases, execution cannot be carried out immediately if the child refuses. According to him, a child is not an object that can be forcibly moved.
"One thing that is understood and most understood by children is that they are not objects, so they cannot be executed when they do not want to," said Fahmi.
Therefore, an emotional approach is considered the best method to restore the relationship between the child and one of the parents. Fahmi emphasized the importance of a gentle approach so that the child feels comfortable again.
"So this is about how later someone is able to charm, how to make the child want to be with them," he said.
He also reminded that forcing a child to stay with one party can have negative effects. Especially if it causes the child to cry due to psychological pressure. "So no more children should be forced, especially if there are incidents of crying, that is against the law," emphasized Fahmi.
Furthermore, the panel of judges also considered the possibility of custody being carried out separately. However, this was ultimately not pursued due to considerations of the emotional relationship of the children with both parents. "Both are very close and it is impossible (to be raised separately)," said Fahmi.
Finally, the court decided that the child custody would be shared. The division of time has also been arranged in the official decision from the panel of judges. "The decision is that the child will be raised together with a time limit of 2 weeks to Baim Wong and the respondent," he stated.
