Child's Birthday Without Mpok Alpa, Husband Initially Confused and Says There Is No Special Celebration

A child's birthday moment is always a special day, but this year will feel very different for the family of the late Mpok Alpa. Her second son, Alfatih Darmadina, or affectionately known as Petong, will celebrate his 7th birthday on September 22 for the first time without the presence of his mother.

"The celebration, especially, we just talked about it, there’s nothing special, it’s just regular activities, mostly just prayers," said Adji regarding the plan for Petong's birthday celebration.

The father, Adji Darmaji, admitted to feeling confused while planning the special day, even though a sweet surprise had been prepared by the late one's colleagues. Adji could not hide his mixed feelings. He expressed that the figure of Mpok Alpa was the center of every family celebration, and her absence now leaves a void that confuses him about what to do to make his child happy at home.

"At home, since there’s no mom anymore, we are confused, right? There’s no... what should we do? Let’s just see how it goes later, bismillah like that, right?" said Adji Darmaji when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (26/8/2025).

Although there will be a surprise celebration, Adji ensures that the tradition of remembering and praying for the late wife will remain the top priority. He plans to regularly take his children to visit the grave, which he now refers to as the last home of his beloved wife.

"It's just that if they want to create a program for the FYP, insyaallah," he expressed, showing the affection felt by Mpok Alpa's colleagues, who also want to bring joy to Petong on his special day.

"Because it's like that has become the late person's last home, something like that. We visit it like that," Adji explained.

"We don't go to the grave just on birthdays. Insyaallah, hopefully, we can do it every Friday, something like that. And we don't have time either, at least during the five daily prayers, we pray for her, we recite Fatihah, just like that," he said.
