Cinta Laura Shares Memorable Moment Meeting Anne Hathaway

"This year started off amazingly, because I went to Shanghai to meet Anne Hathaway, and it was an incredible experience that might have shocked netizens a bit, because Anne Hathaway held my hand and pulled it," Cinta said when met in the Dharmawangsa area, South Jakarta, Thursday (6/2/2025).

Cinta also recounted the details of her conversation with the actress. According to her, she did not want to make a cliché comment like most people. Instead, she expressed deep appreciation for Anne's work in films that she considered very relevant.

"Maybe what melted Anne Hathaway's heart was because I told her very, very sincerely, 'Anne, I've been watching you on screen since I was a child, and I feel very honored to be at an event with you.' I also said, 'I am very grateful for the film project you just took, because that film raises the issue of double standards between women and men. And I think that is very powerful,'" Cinta explained.

The film referred to by Cinta is THE IDEA VIEW. In her view, the film successfully highlights various expectations often placed on women, especially in romantic relationships. Cinta claims to greatly appreciate Anne's courage in taking on a role that can open the public's eyes to gender inequality.

"In my opinion, she is very brave for taking on that role. So thank you for your contributions to this film industry," said Cinta, recalling the words she shared with Anne.

Not only discussing social issues, the conversation between Cinta and Anne also covered the film industry extensively, including acting techniques.

"When I'm with Anne Hathaway, I talk more about her latest projects. But aside from that, we discuss how to change our accents or pronunciation when playing certain roles, how to create a more British accent, or an accent that is outside of our daily life," she said.

However, the most memorable moment for Cinta was when Anne showed her humility. Before saying goodbye, Anne approached Cinta with words that surprised her.

“When she was about to leave, she came up to me and said, ‘Oh my God, Cinta, I was so scared I wouldn’t be able to say goodbye to you. It was such a pleasure meeting you,’” Cinta recalled.

Anne also hugged and kissed Cinta’s cheek as a sign of farewell. For Cinta, such gestures are an important reminder to always be humble, regardless of the position or achievements one has attained in their career.

“No matter how big our career is, no matter how famous we are, being humble, down to earth, and respecting others is very important. That’s what I learned from Anne Hathaway,” she concluded.
