Clarification from Keenan Nasution Regarding the Withdrawal of the Lawsuit Against Vidi Aldiano

The news regarding the withdrawal of the cassation lawsuit from Keenan Nasution against the late Vidi Aldiano turned out to be incorrect. Keenan's attorney, Minola Sebayang, provided a clear clarification that what happened was not a withdrawal, but a request to stop the cassation process that was already underway.

Minola corrected the narrative circulating as if his client only took a stance after Vidi passed away. According to him, this legal process has been ongoing for a long time and had already reached the cassation level in the Supreme Court long before Vidi passed away.

Regarding the withdrawal of the lawsuit against the late Vidi Aldiano, Keenan Nasution's side, represented by lawyer Minola Sebayang, explained that it is neither a withdrawal nor a continuation. "This is not a withdrawal of the lawsuit and also not a continuation of the lawsuit," emphasized Minola Sebayang during a virtual interview on Wednesday (25/03/2026).

"The correct statement is that after the decision in the Commercial Court, the decision is also NO. NO means Niet Ontvankelijke Verklaard, which means it cannot be accepted due to formal matters," he continued.

Minola explained that based on the ruling, they are pursuing a cassation legal effort. "So the cassation process has been underway long before the late Vidi Aldiano passed away," he explained.

Before his passing, Vidi Aldiano was sued by Keenan Nasution regarding copyright and royalties for the song "Nuansa Bening." This lawsuit, valued at IDR 24.5 billion, is an effort to fight for the rights of the song's creator, which was performed by Vidi.

Therefore, the narrative stating that they 'continue the lawsuit' after Vidi's passing is not accurate. The process does indeed proceed automatically in accordance with civil procedural law.

"It is indeed already in the Supreme Court, currently in process. And the Supreme Court will not automatically stop the case with the death of the defendant. This is what we want to convey," he explained.

However, on the basis of empathy and humanity, Keenan Nasution's party has officially requested the Supreme Court to stop the cassation process. This request, said Minola, is permitted by law. This clarification is expected to correct public misunderstandings and end the polemic related to the song Nuansa Bening case.
