Clarification from Ustaz Solmed Regarding the Alleged Sexual Harassment Case Initialed SAM, Claims Wrong Target

The public was recently shocked by news of a report to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency regarding alleged sexual harassment committed by a preacher with the initials SAM. This case suddenly became a hot topic on social media, leading netizens to speculate about the identity behind those initials. Unfortunately, the name Ustaz Solmed was also dragged into the issue and became the target of accusations from netizens.

Ustaz Solmed provided a firm clarification that the initials SAM referred to someone else entirely. He explained that there is a significant difference between his identity and that of the reported individual. He also revealed his true identity to dispel the widespread speculation in the comments section of his Instagram. Here are the details.

"Yes, that was a misidentification. So SAM is not me. They mistakenly thought SAM was me. They thought my name was Soleh Ahmad Mahmud. Since when does my name have Ahmad in it? In the end, I clarified that my name is Sholeh Mahmoed Munawir. And that night, the reporter called me to say that SAM is indeed not me, and he mentioned who SAM actually is. And I know who SAM refers to," said Ustaz Solmed when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, Monday (16/3/2026).

As a result of the circulating slander, many netizens attacked the personal account of the ustaz. However, after a public clarification, the netizens who initially criticized quickly turned around and expressed their apologies for having made false accusations.

"Yes, exactly, because there was slanderous content deliberately created to corner me, many comments came flooding in. But once I clarified, those comments actually turned into apologies. Some even said, 'Wow, wrong target here, let's turn back.' That indicates they were deceived by the slanderous content, leading them to my IG," he said.

Ustaz Solmed also recounted the moment when the reporting party contacted him personally. The reporter felt guilty because the initials he provided led the public to misunderstand and attack Ustaz Solmed, whereas the actual identity of the perpetrator was very different.

"He felt bad, why suddenly everyone is attacking me. In the end, he said, 'Ustaz, I am the one who reported it. The initials SAM refer to this.' I was shocked. Astagfirullahaladzim. I didn't expect that. But that's human nature. That's why I said, masyaallah. The police must resolve this issue immediately. If there really needs to be a suspect, they should be named as such soon. So that everything is clear," said the husband of April Jasmine.

He hopes the police will take decisive action in handling this sexual harassment case. According to him, legal certainty is very important so that this issue does not continue to become a wild ball that harms many parties, especially the preachers whose names are irresponsibly misused.

"Yes, because the reporter has already reported, and the victim is also present. So the police must take quick and precise action to clarify the issue, ensuring it is not ambiguous, and to prevent any dangerous accusations that could harm our national life," he concluded.
