Nasha Anaya Turns 17, Okie Agustina Admits to Being More Protective

As a mother, Okie Agustina does not deny that there is a feeling of sadness that arises when she realizes her children are growing up. The aging of her child also serves as a reminder of her own increasing age. However, on the other hand, she is very grateful to be able to accompany her daughter's growth and development until now.

"I have to double protect them like that. I am grateful, alhamdulillah, my child is already grown up now, becoming a teenager. Alhamdulillah, I can slowly witness one by one of my children growing up to be adults," said Okie Agustina.

Although applying stricter supervision, Okie tries not to be an authoritarian parent. She prefers to position herself as a friend or companion to her children. This is done so that communication among them remains open and comfortable for the children.

"When I interact with that child, I don't just set a boundary between mother and child, no. But I also make her a friend, a best friend. So the kids can tell me anything. But there are limits. The point is, I always have a push and pull dynamic with my child," she explained.

Regarding romance, Okie Agustina turns out to be quite an open-minded parent. She does not forbid Nasha from forming friendships with the opposite sex or even dating, as long as it remains within a positive framework. The main requirement is to prioritize education and always introduce her partner to her mother.

"For me, it's okay to have a male friend. Dating is allowed, but they must be introduced to mom, friendships must be maintained, it should not interfere with school, and no overreacting. The important thing is that it should not disrupt school, that's all. And has Nasha ever had a boyfriend? Yes. She likes to confide in her mom too. She has broken up before, well, that's just typical teenage stuff," she said.

The celebration of Nasha's Sweet 17 was also tinged with shyness from the daughter, who is known to have an introverted personality. Okie recounted that it took coaxing from her and Nasha's siblings for the birthday event to take place in a festive manner.

"This 17th year is also the result of my coaxing, the coaxing of her siblings, 'Come on, dear, you only turn 17 once in a lifetime.' She had been saying from far in advance, 'Mom, I'm embarrassed,' like that. Indeed, she's quite an introverted child, so she gets shy," concluded Okie Agustina.
