While enjoying a simple breakfast, Riko realizes that Jiruo, their instructor, has secretly slipped a copy of the sealed letter belonging to Lyza along with a threatening message, "I will depart at dawn to capture you" into their belongings.

1. Synopsis

Realizing the danger lurking, Riko quickly rushes to pack their gear with Reg's help. The two leave the place as quickly as possible.

Not long after continuing their journey, they accidentally enter the Silkfang territory and are ambushed by the creature. Although surprised, Riko and Reg manage to survive and escape.

The journey brings them to witness the Second Layer for the first time. There, Reg suddenly hears his own voice seemingly calling from the past, triggering confusion about his origins. After that, Reg accompanies Riko to rest for a moment before continuing their journey.

While chatting, Reg sees a Delver standing on the rocks and starts to chase them. Riko and Reg try to escape and hide, while Reg protects Riko from potential attacks.

Not long after, the figure catches up with them and introduces himself as Hablog, a Black Whistle Delver who is impressed by their travel speed.

Hablog's main goal is to meet and examine Reg, after Nat and Shiggy revealed Reg's true identity. Instead of forcing them back to Orth, Hablog offers to escort them to Seeker Camp, but this offer is declined by Riko.

2. Hablog's Warning

Before parting ways, Hablog gave a warning about Ozen, a number of medicines, and additional supplies, then let them continue their journey.

Not long after, Riko and Reg truly entered the Second Layer. They heard cries for help that turned out to come from a Corpse-Weeper, a creature that mimics the voices of victims to lure in prey. Without suspicion, they followed the sound while observing its behavior.

3. Kidnapped by Corpse-Weeper

However, the situation turned dangerous when they were ambushed by a colony of Corpse-Weeper. One of them managed to kidnap Riko. He fought back for a moment but eventually lost consciousness due to the Curse of the Abyss.

In a panic, Reg remembered the moment when he used the Incinerator to save Riko from the Crimson Splitjaw in the First Layer. Guided by instinct, Reg fired the Incinerator, destroying the entire colony of Corpse-Weeper and saving Riko from a terrible fate.
