'CURSED DEMON TEMPTATION' Showcases Household Terror, Poppy Sovia & Donny Alamsyah Reveal Emotional Side and Shooting Challenges

Kapanlagi.com - The latest horror film CURSED DEMON TEMPTATION is set to greet Indonesian audiences starting May 15, 2025, with a different kind of terror. Not only presenting ghosts and possessions, this film delves into a deeper theme: the cracks in a household caused by invisible temptations. Directed with an emotional approach, this film promises a horror experience that touches the personal side of its viewers.

Starring Poppy Sovia, Donny Alamsyah, Claresta Taufan, Azela Putri, Aline Fauziah, Jefan Nathanio and Aden Bajaj, this film serves as a reflection of modern young family life. Poppy Sovia, who plays the character Mother Sri, admits to feeling emotionally connected to the character.

"Honestly, I relate a lot to mothers and feel very close to this film. People with high stress levels in their households will definitely connect," Poppy revealed at a press conference at CGV Grand Indonesia, Thamrin, Central Jakarta, Thursday (8/5).

Poppy feels her role reflects her personal life. She mentions that one of the dialogues in the film struck a chord with her as a wife and mother.

"I feel like I’m looking in a mirror, often wondering why my husband is lacking, why the house is always a mess. Then there’s one dialogue that says, 'To ruin a household, it’s not the husband first, but the mother first,' and I feel like, oh, I’m being shaken here," she explained.

1. Full of Challenges

One of the biggest challenges for Poppy is the closing scene that demands emotion and physical coordination. "There are definitely difficulties, especially during the ending scene. We have to collaborate with others like the art kids. I must not appear overpowering when I want to hurt, but I still have to maintain the emotion," she said.

Meanwhile, Donny Alamsyah, who plays a cleric, admitted to being intrigued by the film's non-cliché storytelling approach. Donny also highlighted how important a father's role is in maintaining family harmony.

"As soon as I read the script, the story felt unique. Clerics fighting against demons and dark forces are common. But here, he has to fight against his own children and wife who are tempted by the devil," Donny revealed.

"This film is not just about the temptations of the devil, but about the small gaps that the devil tries to exploit. I reflect on my own family and how exhausting it is to be a mother and wife, with such heavy responsibilities," he added.

2. An Unclichéd Approach

Meanwhile, Donny Alamsyah, who plays a cleric, admitted that he was intrigued by the film's storytelling approach, which is not clichéd. Donny also highlighted the importance of a father's role in maintaining family harmony.

3. Releasing on May 15, 2025

Actress Claresta Taufan also contributed a challenging performance by playing two characters at once: Ratna and the demon. "I was interested because I get to be Ratna and the demon itself. To portray possession, I could ask someone who has experienced it. But to be a demon, I have no references," she said.

Claresta even used a creative method to delve into her evil character. "I paint with canvas and acrylic, I base it on research. Technically it's difficult, especially since it's my first time being a demon. I had to use prosthetic makeup, there’s a fighting scene with Mas Donny even though I used a sling, but I had to wear contact lenses," she stated.

This film is a collaboration from Maxima Pictures, Sinergi Pictures, VLP Indonesia, and Ben Film, and will be released in theaters starting May 15, 2025.
