The film directed by Adi Garin titled WAKAF apparently addresses the prevalent issues in society. This film also marks the debut of Putri Delina in the Indonesian film industry.
The film WAKAF tells the story of a disputed wakaf land by a family. Well-known names like Kiki Amalia, M Yusuf Al Lampungi, and other famous actors also participate in this film.
When met at Epicentrum Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday afternoon (25/10), Adi Garin revealed that the film WAKAF was inspired by several viral cases related to the dispute over wakaf land.
"WAKAF film is different because we raise it from a previously existing issue, the entrusted responsibility was not preserved and it happened like a pesantren, a mosque that was built and then demolished," said Garin.
On the same occasion, Putri Delina herself admitted that she had been waiting for this film for a long time. She also shared her excitement about acting in her first film.
"Putri was contacted for casting, I have been wanting to play in a horror film for a long time, the shooting process was quite difficult because you can see this is Putri's first time acting in a film and even climbing, so the process was extraordinary," said Putri Delina.
Putri Delina said that she intended to surprise her family, especially her father. However, she didn't end up doing it because she was confused about what reason to give when asking for permission to shoot.
"Fun fact, I actually wanted to surprise my family, especially my father, to see his expression. But because of the shooting, I was asked for a few days, 'What are you doing in Bogor? How many days? With whom?','" said Putri Delina.
"They were definitely surprised, 'So how do you play the role? Can you do it? You've never done it before, but you can sing'," Putri assured them that she could, and asked for their prayers,
The movie WAKAF is scheduled to be released simultaneously in Indonesian cinemas on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
