Dede Sunandar Reveals the Chronology of Saying Triple Talak to Karen Hertatum

Comedian Dede Sunandar finally provided a clear explanation regarding his marital status with Karen Hertatum who is currently at a breaking point. The 35-year-old man admitted that he has pronounced the triple talak to the woman who has accompanied him for 12 years.

This difficult decision was forced upon him after going through a lengthy spiritual consideration with his closest ones. Dede even consulted directly with a religious leader regarding the laws of divorce in Islam to avoid making a wrong step.

"But just ask Bang Ustaz Zacky Mirza, I used to ask him, 'Ustaz, I've reached the talak, talak one but have reconnected, does the talak disappear?' It disappears like that. But if it's already talak three, it can't be like that anymore," said Dede Sunandar when met in the Jalan Kapten Tendean area, Mampang, South Jakarta, Thursday (14/05/2026).

Dede Sunandar revealed that he actually uttered the word 'talak' between the years 2016 and 2017. However, at that time, their marriage status could still be saved because both decided to reconcile and maintain their husband-and-wife relationship.

Now the situation seems to be completely different for the couple who have been blessed with three adorable children. He has even officially delivered the final separation statement when meeting with the extended family of his wife recently.

The declaration of the threefold talak was initially made only through a phone call due to communication barriers between them. Dede ultimately chose to repeat the sacred words face to face to provide clarity on their legitimate status.

Karen Hertatum herself seems to have accepted the bitter reality with an open heart without showing any hatred at all. The two have now agreed to end this long dispute for the sake of their peace of mind in a better future.

"Yes, because he was the one who first didn’t want to meet. When we finally met, I already said what I needed to say," explained the man who was once a member of a political party.

Dede Sunandar saw that his wife's expression was very calm when they met to discuss the separation process. He felt that Karen had truly made up her mind to live independently without having to rely on her husband anymore.

Although they must part ways as a nation, Dede still hopes that the bond of friendship between the two large families will continue to thrive. He does not want this divorce to sever the ties of brotherhood that have been built with great effort over the course of many years.
