A shocking fact was revealed by Ammar Zoni during the continuation of the trial in the alleged drug trafficking case in Salemba Prison. The trial, held online from the Central Jakarta District Court, was marked by a firm request from Ammar Zoni, who is currently imprisoned in Nusakambangan, on Thursday (6/11/2025).

He admitted that he could not prepare a note of objection or exception due to a fundamental issue of not having access to paper and pen in Nusakambangan Prison.
The hearing scheduled for the reading of the exception became deadlocked. Ammar Zoni, who attended virtually, explained that besides the broken communication with his lawyer, he and the other defendants also did not have the means to express their defense in writing.
This certainly poses a serious obstacle in the fair legal process, where every defendant has the right to prepare their own defense. "Also, we did not receive paper and pen to write down our individual exceptions, you know," Ammar stated before the panel of judges.
Due to these obstacles, Ammar honestly stated that there was no material for the exception that he could present that day. He felt it was pointless to continue the hearing agenda if even the most basic preparation for the defense could not be done."So actually, I feel there is nothing that can be conveyed about this exception, you know, Your Honor," he said.
This condition further strengthens his argument that online trials from Nusakambangan are very ineffective. He again requested that the panel of judges allow him to attend in person in the courtroom in Jakarta.
"So, we once again hope, still hope to be able to attend *offline* during the trial, Your Honor," he pleaded.
