Miss Mexico Walks Out After Being Called 'Stupid' by Miss Universe Executive

During a live broadcast of the sash event, Nawat Itsaragrisil, who serves as the director for Asia and Oceania for Miss Universe, reprimanded Fatima Bosch in front of other participants.

Nawat accused Fatima of not following the instructions of the Thai team and instead choosing to listen to the instructions from the Mexican national director. When Bosch tried to explain, Nawat interrupted her and called her a 'dumbhead' or 'stupid'.

Fatima Bosch immediately reacted strongly to the treatment. She asserted that she has the right to speak and deserves to be respected as a woman. 'Because I have a voice,' she said firmly. However, Nawat reprimanded Fatima for not being finished and not granting her the right to speak.

Tension escalated to the point where Nawat asked security personnel to remove Bosch from the room for being disruptive to the event. This action sparked anger among the other contestants. Several participants, including Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjær Theilvig, decided to leave the room as a show of solidarity with Bosch. The walk-out video quickly went viral on social media and generated a wave of support for Miss Mexico.

After the incident, Fatima revealed that she did not intend to disrespect the host country of Miss Universe 2025. "You know, I have a lot of respect for your country. I love Thailand very much. I respect you all. I feel you are amazing people. But what your director did was disrespectful. He called me stupid because he has issues with the organization. And I feel that is unfair, because I am here and I am doing everything, okay. I am not causing problems with anyone, I am trying to be nice," she said.

"I try to give my best, but she accused me. She told me to be quiet and a lot of different things. And I think the world needs to see this. Because we are empowered women, and this is our place to speak up. And no one can silence our voices. And no one will do that to me. I hope everyone at home, all women. No matter if you have big dreams, even if you have a crown, but if it makes you lose your honor, you have to go, thank you," said Fatima. 

After the incident, Nawat apologized to the public on stage. He admitted that the stress and pressure during the event made him lose control.

Nawat also cried in front of the media and received a reprimand from the Director of Miss Universe. Nevertheless, the public continues to criticize Nawat because he did not mention Miss Mexico at all in his apology.
