Didi Riyadi is Heartbroken, Hearing News of Lucky Widja's Death Right After Arriving in Madinah

The sad news enveloping the music world in the country still leaves profound sorrow, especially for the members of the band Element. Element's vocalist, Lucky Widja, is reported to have passed away at Halim Hospital, Jakarta, on January 25, 2026. Lucky's departure leaves deep sorrow for his friend, Didi Riyadi, who was far away in the Holy Land performing umrah at the time of the incident.

When met at his friend’s grave, Didi recounted the heartbreaking moment when he first heard the news of Lucky's passing. The sad news reached him just as he arrived in Madinah, making his feelings instantly mixed and utterly crushed.

"I heard the news when I had just arrived in Madinah that night. So, while on the way to the hotel, I immediately got the news that Lucky was no longer with us. Well, how do you feel about that? It's all mixed up. There's shock, and there's confusion too. Honestly, at that moment, I felt like a dazed person. I still couldn't believe it," he said when met at TPU Jeruk Purut, South Jakarta, Thursday (29/1/2026).

Didi admitted that he felt dazed and found it hard to accept the reality that his fighting companion was gone. In fact, before leaving for Umrah, he had still communicated with Lucky through a WhatsApp group.

In that last conversation, Lucky asked for prayers so that he could soon be free from the dialysis routine he had been undergoing.

"On the 21st I left, on the 20th I was talking in the WA group with the Element kids. That was the last time he, the late, conveyed: 'Please pray for me, Di, so that I can quickly be free from dialysis'," Didi recalled with a trembling voice.

Didi did not have any bad premonitions at that time. He and his fellow Element members sincerely prayed for Lucky's recovery. However, fate had other plans. Lucky passed away while Didi was offering his best prayers in the Holy Land, a coincidence that was heartbreaking yet full of wisdom.

"I feel like it happened really fast. Like... I didn't hear any news that 'Oh, suddenly he was admitted to the ER, or hospitalized, or anything like that'. I got the news that first night, I can't forget that," he added.

Although filled with regret for not being able to accompany his friend in his final moments, Didi tries to be sincere. He believes that the prayers he offers in sacred places will be the best provision for the late Lucky Widja.
