Naoko Nemoto alias Ratna Sari Dewi Sukarno is now facing a fine from the Japanese Court. The third wife of President Sukarno was sued by two of her employees in the Japanese Labor Court for unilateral termination.
The incident occurred in 2021 when two of Dewi's employees refused to come to work due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. Dewi felt that her two employees were overreacting and decided to terminate them, after which both employees filed a lawsuit against Dewi.

Dewi Sukarno faced demands from two of her employees who objected to the termination of employment carried out by the third wife of President Sukarno in 2021. The two employees filed a lawsuit in March 2022 at the Japanese Labor Court.
After a lengthy court process, the Labor Court ruled that Dewi was guilty. The termination she carried out against her two employees was declared invalid, and Dewi still has an obligation to pay their salaries from 2021 to 2024.
The total salary of the two employees that Dewi must pay is 29 million yen or about 3 billion IDR. Dewi must pay this amount to her two former employees.
"I am also angry at all of you who treated me like a germ even though my test results were negative. You are suffering from coronaphobia. I think I will never come to the office again because I cannot work with you who have hurt my character," said Dewi to her two employees as quoted from Friday Digital, Sunday (1/19/2025).
Previously, the Japanese Labor Court ruled that Dewi must pay a combined settlement fee of 6 million yen or around Rp631 million. However, Dewi objected to this, which eventually led to legal action.
Regarding this court ruling, Dewi stated that she has no problem with it. "Losing is fine," said Dewi. However, she refused to comment on the increase in the fine she has to pay, from 6 million yen to 29 million yen.
