Doctor Kamelia Disappointed Ammar Zoni Sentenced to 7 Years in Prison for Drug Case

Actor Muhammad Ammar Akbar, better known as Ammar Zoni, has to swallow a bitter pill again. The panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court sentenced Ammar Zoni to seven years in prison during a trial held on Thursday (04/23/2026).

Ammar was found guilty in a drug trafficking case that took place inside the Salemba detention center. The judge stated that Ammar was proven to have violated Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

In addition to a relatively long prison sentence, this former husband of Irish Bella was also fined Rp 1 billion. If the fine is not paid, it will be replaced with an additional 190 days in prison.

The presence of Doctor Kamelia, a woman who has a close relationship with Ammar Zoni, drew attention in the courtroom. When asked for her response regarding the heavy sentence received by Ammar, Doctor Kamelia initially seemed reluctant to provide detailed comments and asked the media crew to direct their questions to the legal team.

"Just ask his legal advisor (PH), just ask his legal advisor. Just ask the legal advisor and his family, don’t ask me. There’s no disappointment or anything, just relax," said Doctor Kamelia when met at the Central Jakarta District Court on Thursday (23/04/2026).

Although Ammar was sentenced to seven years, Doctor Kamelia tried to appear calm in front of the public. She emphasized that legal matters are entirely the authority of the lawyer.

Dr. Kamelia openly expressed her disappointment with the legal process, which she felt was not optimal, resulting in a rather high sentence for Ammar.

She believes there were irregularities in the handling of this case that caused Ammar to face very heavy consequences.

"I'm disappointed because all this time I've been following their game, but the reality is their work is not right," she asserted.

Regarding future legal steps, including the possibility of filing an appeal, Dr. Kamelia mentioned that she will still consult with Ammar Zoni's legal team. She also responded to concerns about the fear that Ammar might be transferred to Nusakambangan Prison due to the sentence. "We'll just have to see later. There are still other efforts that can be made," she concluded.
