Drug Abuse Case, Catherine Wilson Sentenced to 8 Months of Rehabilitation and Ready to Submit Plea

Kapanlagi.com - The trial of the drug abuse case involving artist Catherine Wilson was held virtually at the Depok District Court, West Java, on Wednesday (6/1).

In the trial, the Public Prosecutor demanded eight months of rehabilitation for the defendant Catherine Wilson. The Public Prosecutor stated that Catherine Wilson violated Article 127 Paragraph 1 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

“Imposing punishment on the defendant Catherine Wilson bin Peter Wilson with eight months of rehabilitation,” said the Public Prosecutor.

After the trial, Catherine Wilson's lawyer, Verna Wahono, welcomed the demand because it is in line with her expectations for Catherine Wilson to be rehabilitated.

“We hope that whatever happens, rehabilitation is necessary for drug addicts,” said Verna Wahono.

2. Will Submit a Plea

After this, Verna Wahono is also ready to submit a plea or defense statement to reduce the demand. She will also ask Catherine Wilson if there is anything she wants to convey in the next trial.

“We will submit the plea on January 12th (tomorrow). We will try to contact Catherine later. If there is a written personal request, we will convey it in the trial. Because the defendant also has the right to request such things,” she said.

3. Expert Witness Unable to Attend

Meanwhile, regarding the expert witness who could not attend today's hearing, Catherine Wilson's side feels both loss and relief because the legal process becomes faster as it continues directly with the reading of the prosecution's demands.

"There is still a loss in bringing in expert witnesses because it is beneficial and also affects Catherine's case," said Verna Wahono.

"We have contacted the expert witness and they cannot attend. It just so happens that we also want to shorten the time and not prolong the process. Because it has been 6 months and it is already too long from the process. Yes, we have discussed with the family and understand that the expert witness cannot be brought in, but we have tried to bring them in," she concluded.
