Edo Kondologit Reveals Details of Alleged Assault Case that Resulted in the Death of His Brother-in-law

When contacted by KapanLagi.com, Edo Kondologit explained in detail about the case that led to the death. It is stated that the victim was handed over to the police regarding the death of one of the neighbors by his own mother. However, instead of being processed legally, the man who is Edo Kondologit's nephew received unfair treatment that cost him his life.

"Yes. So, previously there was a case of a neighbor's death. There were indications (that the relative was involved), and some things were considered related, so the mother handed him over. Because he had a good relationship with the neighbor, that's why the mother immediately handed her child over to be processed with the hope that the police could handle it properly." The meaning is please process it if indeed guilty, not being persecuted, interrogated in an uncivilized, barbaric, and violent manner. Shot in both legs, both hands handcuffed, this is what disturbs our sense of justice," said Edo Kondologit when contacted by telephone on Monday (31/8/2020).

1. The Beginning of the Case

The assault and shooting that resulted in Riko's death began with his involvement in a murder case of one of the neighbors. The family entrusted the legal process regarding the case to the police to prove whether the late Riko was indeed involved in the murder of his neighbor.

"So, there was a murder case next to our house. In the morning, a dead body was found, and the deceased was an elderly woman. Because of the good relationship between my mother-in-law and the deceased, they were very close, so there was an indication like that, so we handed it over. It means that if he is guilty, please proceed with the legal process. If he needs to be punished, then let the legal system handle it. We believe in the law, that's why we handed it over," he said.

2. Reasons for Being Shot

Unfortunately, Riko passed away shortly after being handed over to the police. According to Edo Kondologit's statement, the police's claim regarding Riko's death is believed to be false and can affect the general image of the police.

"They claim that he escaped. How did he escape? He was still in custody at the police station. They shouldn't be able to act as they please like that. It's really bad. And it makes us all angry. We hope that the police, who should provide protection, end up becoming perpetrators and killers. This is not right," said Edo Kondologit.

"These kinds of police officers are damaging the image that the Indonesian National Police is trying to build with the Chief of Police. These kinds of individuals who damage that image should not be allowed," he added.

3. Lying on the Floor

Furthermore, Edo Kondologit stated that Riko was treated inhumanely even after his death. With signs of assault and gunshot wounds in various parts of his body, Riko's body was left lying on the floor.

"He was shot in the left and right legs, his face was beaten to a pulp, and he was left to be beaten by other detainees at the police station. Then his body was left lying with wounds, left lying on the floor in front of the police station. This is an inhumane act," he concluded.
