Establish Verbind Films, Melvin Giovanie's Comeback to the Entertainment World After 9 Years of Hiatus

Kapanlagi.com - Since 2010, actor Melvin Giovanie has been on hiatus from the entertainment world. The star of the film LAWANG SEWU chose to focus on his business in the IT field, namely Verbind Internet (PT. Verbind Internet Solusindo), which operates in the Tangerang area.

Since 2019, Melvin has made a comeback to the entertainment world. Not just an actor, Melvin Giovanie Lim also works behind the scenes. Together with a colleague, he established a production house called Verbind Films (PT. Verbind Film Kreatifindo).

"I took a long hiatus from the entertainment world because I was involved in the business world. In 2010, I decided to stop completely and focus on my business. Now that my business in Verbind Internet has developed enough, I finally decided to return to the entertainment world in 2019," said Melvin when recently interviewed.

"This time, I am not only an actor but also more of a filmmaker. My friend Fanny Gunawan and I established a production house, where we plan to make quality and entertaining films because it has always been my passion to create entertaining and quality films," he added.

1. Release of Short Film Titled 'Anak Ambar'

Melvin serves as the CEO of Verbind Film Kreatifindo. So far, the production house has produced a short film titled Anak Ambar. In the film, Melvin will play a dual role as an actor and a producer.

"We are currently making a horror short movie titled Anak Ambar. Currently, I am focusing on horror films. As a businessman, I see the market demand, and currently horror films are trending. So, we want to prioritize having the initial capital for the production house and pitching to investors. Anak Ambar will be released on our YouTube channel in mid-January 2020. After that, we are planning to make a full-length horror film as well," he added.

2. More Passionate about Being a Director

Interestingly, Melvin admitted that he is more passionate about being a director than an actor. Not without reason, this 34-year-old man has a big mission to present quality films for the Indonesian film industry.

"Actually, my passion is more towards making films, not as an actor. As an actor, of course, we can be part of the film, but if we are behind the scenes making the film, we can be more creative. As a director or producer, we can choose what theme to create. Whether it's horror, drama, or comedy, we can plan it. But as an actor, we don't have full control over the films we make," Melvin concluded.
