Facing the Prosecutor's Demands Soon, Ammar Zoni is Anxious

"There will definitely be a verdict. Right? It could be a prison sentence, it could be acquitted, it could also be an acquittal, it could also be a lighter sentence, it could also be rehabilitation. Well, now we want to build a conducive situation and not have too many what do you call it? comments from outside that we think, yes, will later disrupt our situation in arranging the plea, you know," explained Jon Mathias at Cipinang Prison, East Jakarta, Thursday (5/3/2026).

Ammar's mental burden is indeed quite heavy because of the shadow of the punishment he has to face. Nevertheless, he continues to strive to be cooperative and fully concentrate on each stage of the trial. Jon Mathias sees Ammar's anxiety as a human reaction for anyone facing the courtroom.

"Yes, that is definitely the case. Because when someone is about to face charges, the burden is certainly heavy. Because he is overshadowed by a heavy punishment, then surely everyone facing the law will have a sense of worry, a sense of what. Well, he is now focusing on legal matters, right," he said.

The trial for the indictment that will be held next week will serve as the basis for the legal team to prepare the defense statement or plea. After the indictment is read, Ammar still has time to provide a defense before the judge delivers the final verdict. This process is expected to take about another month.

"How much longer? Yes, according to us, there is about a month left. In the next month. Because next week is just the indictment, then the plea can be 2 weeks, right? Then there will be a rebuttal, and then there will be a sur-rebuttal from the lawyer. Only then will there be a decision. So, it will be another month," explained Jon Mathias.

Ammar himself currently chooses to remain silent and pray more than to respond to other issues outside of his legal problems. Even regarding matters concerning his child and Irish Bella, Ammar prefers to postpone them until the court proceedings are completely finished. His focus right now is solely on how to face the prosecutor's indictment calmly.

"Not yet, we are currently focused on the trial issues until the verdict. Only then will we discuss that later, right? No, there’s nothing. Let’s just discuss legal education issues," concluded Jon Mathias.
