The wife of Ridwan Kamil, Atalia Praratya, finally spoke out about her daughter's decision, Camillia Laetitia Azahra or commonly known as Zara, who decided to remove her hijab. Atalia Praratya said that her daughter has discussed her decision.
Atalia Praratya is also very aware that her family's life as celebrities will be under scrutiny. However, she emphasizes that the process her daughter went through before removing her hijab was not sudden.
"It's done, we've discussed it. It's been a long process, I was just surprised why it was posted," said Atalia Praratya when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Friday (5/4).
Atalia also considers that with this decision, it is a brave step taken by her daughter. But still, she never gets tired of reminding about the risks of her child's appearance changes that have been discussed since a long time ago.
"According to me, she has extraordinary courage. That she conveyed to everyone so that there are those who may be comfortable or uncomfortable, she will be open," she said.
"So about two weeks ago she asked, 'Mom, I want to post'. I said, 'Don't do it, Za, if you post then you will face a situation that you won't know'. It means that there are netizens who are pro and against, we already know from the beginning, but she said, 'I'm ready'," she continued.
In the end, Atalia Praratya certainly couldn't hide her sadness. However, she still felt relieved because now Ridwan Kamil is in England with Zara.
"I thought he wouldn't post it about two weeks ago. He posted it and I was surprised, yes, sad, but I mean I'm relieved because he's happier that way," she said.
As is known, Zara announced to the public that she removed her hijab through a post on social media on Friday (5/4/2024). This immediately shocked netizens and received both pros and cons.
As a mother, Atalia admitted that she will continue to support and pray for whatever decision her daughter has made.
