Kapanlagi.com - Inara Rusli won royalties for four songs created by Virgoun, namely 'Surat Cinta Untuk Starla', 'Bukti', 'Selamat (Selamat Tinggal)', and 'Orang yang Sama'. This is because these intangible assets are declared as joint property.
Inara explained the beginning of her request for a share of the royalties for the four songs created by her ex-husband.
"Initially, before I had legal power, I consulted first, asking, for example, if royalties could be included in joint property. Because basically joint property is an income that can be obtained in marriage, and it seems possible," said Inara when met in the Tendean area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (21/11/2023).
Inara Rusli realizes that there has never been a legal decision to include song royalties as joint assets in divorce cases.
"There has never been a case that could win royalties as joint assets, but we just try. I searched in the archives (letters from the label) and Alhamdulillah there were, so we studied it with the expert witnesses and thankfully his lawsuit was granted," she said.
"Well, once again, it is Allah who makes it easier, gathering expert witnesses is not easy, we even interviewed 80 people and they refused. Because from the expert witnesses on the other side, their title is Doctor if I'm not mistaken, so they consider themselves senior and don't want to, right?" added Inara Rusli.
There are four songs that are considered as joint assets, namely Surat Cinta untuk Starla, Bukti, Selamat (Selamat Tinggal), and Orang yang Sama. Inara revealed that the songs were created by Virgoun inspired by his children.
"All the songs are inspired by me and the children. As far as I can remember, Surat Cinta Untuk Starla, Bukti," she said.
However, Inara mentioned that the song Surat Cinta Untuk Starla is not dedicated to her and their child.
"If we look at the lyrics of Surat Cinta Untuk Starla, I feel like it's not for me and the children. So, because of that, the title is named after Starla, so I included it in the lawsuit," she said.
However, Inara refused to reveal to whom the song was dedicated. “It will cause a commotion later, please don't,” she said.
“I don't know if it's Wallahualam, we only rely on his confession in front of the media about those songs,” she concluded.
