Good Intentions to Help Covid-19 Medical Workers Rejected by Residents and Considered as Publicity, Hengky Kurniawan Speaks Out

Kapanlagi.com - Actor Hengky Kurniawan planned to make his house in Pejaten, South Jakarta, a place for medical workers and volunteers to stay during Covid-19. However, this good intention was rejected by the surrounding residents who were afraid of unwanted incidents.

"I haven't consulted yet because I haven't lived there for two years. That's why from the beginning I only allowed it to be used, for permission to talk to the residents, maybe the central government can mediate," explained Hengky when contacted by phone on Friday (3/4/2020).

"I think if the residents object, we can't force it. It means I understand their concerns. Actually, if the medical workers follow the SOP at their workplace, we think it's safe," added Sonya Fatmala's husband.

1. Considered Image Projection

Hengky Kurniawan's sincere intentions apparently are considered by some people as a form of image projection. However, he doesn't mind and admits that it is common to face such situations.

"It's a common thing in life. Sometimes people have different perspectives. We can't force and please everyone. For me, I just think flatly and continue working. If someone says various things in this situation, it can be conveyed nicely," said the man who currently serves as the Deputy Regent of West Bandung.

Furthermore, the actor of the film ME VS HIGH HEELS revealed the background story of why he was moved to lend his house as a place to stay. Apparently, he was touched by the struggle of medical workers who travel far to treat people who are positive for the virus.

"Initially, because there were medical workers who confided in me. They work in Pasar Minggu but their house is in Bogor, so they have to commute. They are already tired from the journey, and also tired from work. That's why I offered," he explained.
