Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz or Eril, the eldest son of Governor Ridwan Kamil, passed away on May 26, 2022. However, on Saturday (4/8/2023), the late Emil was declared a graduate of ITB through a graduation ceremony represented by Ridwan Kamil.

Although Eril has passed away, his research that was not yet presented in court is still appreciated by the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) with a Bachelor's degree.
In addition to Ridwan Kamil, Eril's family was seen attending the ITB graduation ceremony last Saturday. Eril's mother, younger sibling, and grandmother also witnessed the posthumous awarding of Eril's Bachelor's degree.
Together with his team, the late Emil created skin disease scanning technology using only a smartphone camera.
Ridwan Kamil explained that the family did not actually ask ITB to review Emil's final project. However, after two hearings, Emil's final project was deemed to meet ITB's strict standards.
A poignant moment occurred when the name Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz was called. Ridwan Kamil represented him while holding a standee of the late Eril wearing a toga.Â
The late Eril graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from ITB. Eril's graduation also coincided with 17 Ramadan or Nuzurul Quran.
The late Eril officially became an ITB graduate in absentia. Eril had previously planned to continue his education for a Master's degree in Switzerland.
But fate had other plans. While visiting Switzerland to survey universities where he planned to pursue his Master's degree, Eril was declared missing after swimming in the Aare River on May 26, 2022, and was found dead.
