This violent incident took place in the Ampera area, South Jakarta, around 07:15 WIB. At that time, Faisal was on duty taking Kala to school. The chronology began when a man riding a pink Vespa motorcycle drove against the flow of traffic and almost collided with the motorcycle ridden by Faisal and Kala.

Faisal, who reflexively honked the horn as a warning, actually provoked the anger of the perpetrator. The rider was not pleased, turned around, and immediately blocked Faisal's motorcycle. Without further ado, the perpetrator pulled Faisal off the motorcycle and unleashed a flurry of punches. Kala, who was terrified, could only pull aside and be calmed by a porridge seller at the scene.

"The arbitrary actions of individuals while driving, especially with physical assault, we strongly condemn. Moreover, the incident happened in front of our child, Kala Madali," said Hanung when contacted by the media via text message on Monday (22/9/2025).

The director of the film Ayat-Ayat Cinta explained Faisal's important role in his family, especially when he is not at home. Full trust is given to Faisal for important tasks, including picking up and dropping off the children.

"Faisal works as a housekeeper who sometimes helps with school runs if I am unavailable. Like right now, I am on umrah," he said.

Hanung also revealed that the perpetrator had claimed to be a 'member' when nearby residents tried to intervene in his actions. It is suspected that the perpetrator panicked and feared being mobbed, thus making that statement to intimidate the residents.

"According to Faisal, he only said 'I am a member', but it is unclear what kind of member. He mentioned this because people were trying to intervene in his act of beating Faisal," explained Hanung.

The family of Hanung Bramantyo and Zaskia Adya Mecca has taken firm legal action. The victim, Faisal, has undergone a medical examination as evidence of the abuse he suffered.
