How Rezky Aditya Teaches the Meaning of Ramadan Fasting to His Child from an Early Age

This year's Ramadan is a moment for Rezky Aditya and Citra Kirana to start introducing fasting to their son, Keene Atharrazaka Aditya. As a parent, Rezky feels it is time for his child to learn the basics of religion, even though he is still very young.

Rezky admits he has started to provide understanding gradually through casual conversations before bed. What is it like? Read more here, KLovers!

Rezky tries to explain the concept of fasting in simple language so that it is easy for children like Athar to understand.

"Yes. Before bed at night, I like to remind him, 'Soon we will be fasting'. During the fasting month, we don't eat or drink. Why? So that we can enter heaven. Slowly, but hopefully this year he can learn," said Rezky Aditya when met in the Pejaten area, South Jakarta, on Saturday (14/2/2026).

Although he has provided a basic understanding, Rezky cannot be sure if Athar will immediately participate in full fasting. He prefers to observe the child's development as the month of Ramadan progresses.

According to Rezky, last year the child had not yet started learning to fast. However, seeing Athar's enthusiasm as he begins to imitate his parents' activities, Rezky is optimistic that this year the child can start trying to learn fasting gradually.

"I don't know yet, let's just see. Last year not really, but maybe this year we can start introducing it slowly. He has started following what we do, hopefully during this fasting he can learn too," he said.

Rezky said that children's questions usually arise when they see their parents not eating and drinking during the day. However, Rezky has prepared an answer that instills a sense of love for the Creator.

"Not yet, because fasting hasn't started so there haven't been many questions. But what is clear is he asked why we have to fast, so we answered that it's to enter heaven, so that Allah loves us," said Rezky Aditya.
