Identical Religious Songs, Here's Why GIGI Doesn't Release an Album for Ramadan This Year

Kapanlagi.com - Unlike usual, the band GIGI did not release any new works during this year's Ramadan. GIGI's vocalist, Armand Maulana, revealed the reason why his band did not present their latest religious work in Ramadan 2024.

"Because the current music situation is very different. So we also think that we will release the single Insha Allah next year for religious purposes," said Armand Maulana when found at Istiqlal Mosque, not long ago.

1. A Very Different Situation

According to Armand, the current music situation in Indonesia is very different from when GIGI released their debut religious album "Railah Kemenangan" in 2004.

Especially because at that time, music was still distributed through cassette and CD formats. As a result, GIGI's album "Railah Kemenangan" received wide acclaim from the public.

"It's different now, it's no longer like the era of cassette or CD. Insha Allah, next year," said Armand.

2. Release of the First Religious Album in 2004

Armand still remembers clearly when GIGI released a religious album in 2004. After releasing the album, GIGI had the opportunity to go on tour during the month of Ramadan.

"Alhamdulillah, 20 years ago when GIGI released a religious album, there was Peace, there was God, there was the Door to Heaven, it was the second year of the tour," he said.

3. Once Touring 34 Cities

Not only that, because of the tight schedule, GIGI also once went on a tour to 34 cities during the month of Ramadan.

"In the first year of the tour, fasting lasted for 30 days, 30 locations, 30 cities. Now, in the second year of the tour, we played in 34 locations within 30 days because of the explosion. So, there was a day when we played at 10 in the morning in this Islamic boarding school and at 4 in the afternoon in another Islamic boarding school," Armand concluded.
