Kapanlagi.com - Senior comedian, Indro Warkop, responds to the report made by several community groups against Pandji Pragiwaksono. This report relates to Pandji's stand-up material in a special show titled Mens Rea that aired on Netflix.
Indro regrets and is puzzled by the attitude of some elements of society who view comedy from only one perspective. According to him, comedy should have its own space so that there is no offense that leads to police reports.
"Let’s place comedy where it belongs. Sometimes people nowadays don’t understand the meaning of comedy. We are then seen by other nations as 'wow, primitive it turns out that Indonesians are'," said Indro Warkop when met in the Thamrin area, Central Jakarta, Friday (9/1) night.

Furthermore, Indro argues about the shift in the way criticism is responded to. He recounts that in his time, the authorities directly responded to the criticism. Now, friction actually occurs among the community when responding to a criticism.
"In my time, there were authorities. Now, the authorities use others to confront us. We have to be careful about this," he continued.
In its time, Warkop DKI was not hesitant to criticize government policies through their comedies. Indro also admitted that he had received direct reprimands from the New Order Government several times. This is different from the case of Pandji Pragiwaksono, who was reported by elements of society.
The report against Pandji was filed by the Young Generation of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) along with the Muhammadiyah Youth Alliance and registered under number LP/B/166/I/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA dated January 8, 2026.
"I have never been reported, but we... we are often... by the Government. It is unfortunate that this is a regression in thinking. Just use logic, if it really didn't happen, why should there be a rejection?", said Indro Warkop.
