Inspirational Story of Surya Sahetapy, Son of Dewi Yul & Ray Sahetapy, Deaf Person Who Successfully Graduated Cum Laude

Not kidding, Surya successfully graduated with Cum Laude predicate, the best in his class. As you know, there he took the major of Associate of Science in Applied Liberal Arts - Immersions: ASL & Deaf Studies, equivalent to D3 major in Indonesia.

However, Surya Sahetapy's struggle is not yet over. On her Instagram, Dewi Yul mentioned that Surya will continue to stay in New York, America for the next year to complete his S-1 studies.

"There is still another year of struggle, God willing, to complete his S-1 education.. everything is by Allah's permission. It's still the beginning of the struggle. Please pray, my friends," she explained.

Dewi Yul and Ray Sahetapy have four children, two of whom are hearing impaired, namely the late Gizca Puteri Agustina Sahetapy, and Surya Sahetapy who has now successfully graduated from the sign language department at Rochester Institute of Technology New York.

Not only that, previously Surya Sahetapy was also designated as one of the inspiring young people in Indonesia. This was conveyed by President Jokowi himself a few years ago.
