Inspiring Story of Lenny Hartono Switching from Successful Entrepreneur to Fashion Designer, Bringing a Mission to Help Women in Prisons

Kapanlagi.com - There is a unique story behind the name Lenny Hartono. Initially, Lenny was a very successful metal craft entrepreneur. However, she has now switched gears to become a designer, a field that is quite different and unrelated to her previous profession.

The story began with Lenny's daughter becoming a model and Lenny having difficulty finding suitable clothing designs for her beloved child. Eventually, this 51-year-old woman took the initiative to design clothes for her daughter herself, and it turned out that her designs were well-liked. Therefore, since 2020, Lenny has fully immersed herself as a designer.

"Then I thought, why not develop my hobby so that it can be enjoyed by the public. Who knows, it might become an inspiration and be useful for many people out there," said the woman from Cirebon, West Java, during a media interview at FX Senayan, South Jakarta (18/4/2022).

Despite only being a designer for 2 years, Lenny's works cannot be underestimated. As proof, Lenny was trusted to participate in Indonesian Fashion Week held at the Jakarta Convention Center Jakarta from April 13-17, 2022.

"Thank God, I can participate in Indonesian Fashion Week. I never thought I could participate in this prestigious event," said Lenny proudly.

In IFW 2022, Lenny presented a ribbon dress design that represents a gift for herself. Her collection is named 'A Gift for Myself'. Lenny said that her works have been showcased in many fashion events, both in Bali and in several other big cities in Indonesia.

"Participating in Indonesian Fashion Week 2022 is my first time. Therefore, I want to learn a lot from other designers in this event," she added.

2. Willing to Help Women in Prison

In addition to continuing to work as a fashion designer, Lenny also wants to help others, especially female prisoners who are incarcerated. She wants to provide training on how to become a professional tailor and design clothes, so that once they are released from prison, they can open their own businesses.

As a fashion designer, she feels called to help her fellow sisters who are currently in prison to remain empowered and creative.

"I am sure that if they are trained seriously and thoroughly, they can become professionals," said Lenny full of hope.
