Investigators at the Ammar Zoni Trial Deny the Existence of Violence and Electrocution During Interrogation

Ammar Zoni along with five other defendants is back in court regarding the drug trafficking case inside the detention center. This trial is held at the Central Jakarta District Court with the main agenda of hearing testimonies from witnesses presented by the Public Prosecutor (JPU).

On this occasion, the JPU brought in four witnesses to provide testimony before the panel of judges. One of the witnesses that drew attention was Mario, an investigator from the Cempaka Putih Police Station who directly interrogated Ammar Zoni when the actor was detained on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking inside the prison.

During the hearing, the public prosecutor asked about the truth regarding allegations of physical pressure or violence that the defendants allegedly experienced while giving statements at the police station some time ago.

"Yes Ma'am, in accordance with what I stated earlier, there is also no information that I conveyed," Mario responded to the public prosecutor's question regarding elements of violence during the interrogation.

This statement from Mario also serves as an answer to the accusations that arose in the previous trial. This is because Ammar Zoni had claimed to have received rough treatment such as being hit and kicked during the interrogation process.

However, Mario firmly denied this and stated that the interrogation was conducted according to procedure. "There is none, Ma'am," Mario asserted.

It doesn't stop there, the public prosecutor also touched on the alleged use of electric shock devices to intimidate the defendants into making confessions.

Mario explained that the police did not use such devices during the examination process, either from office inventory or detention facilities. "Ready, because our electric shock device was left in the car, it’s not here, Ma'am," Mario explained to the Public Prosecutor.

The investigators emphasized that the entire examination process was conducted transparently and witnessed by many other police members.

This aims to ensure that no unlawful actions were taken by certain investigators while extracting information from Ammar Zoni and his colleagues. "Ready, the accusation is not true," concluded Mario.
