Jerry Aurum Appeals After Being Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison and a Fine of Rp1 Billion

Kapanlagi.com - Jerry Aurum has just undergone a further trial regarding a drug abuse case at the West Jakarta District Court. In the trial, the panel of judges sentenced Jerry to 11 years in prison and a fine of Rp1 billion.

Agus Pambudi, the Public Relations Officer of the West Jakarta District Court, stated that Jerry is currently appealing the judge's decision.

"The process is still in the appeal stage, it is still the decision of the West Jakarta District Court, but it is not yet final, still in the appeal stage," said Agus when contacted by phone on Thursday (19/3).

1. Too Heavy Verdict

Agus Pambudi said that Jerry Aurum appealed because the judge's verdict was too heavy. The punishment of 11 years is the same as the demand from the Public Prosecutor (JPU).

"It is certainly too heavy because the decision is the same as the demand, so maybe he feels burdened and wants it reduced or whether it is within his authority," said Agus.

2. Still Don't Know the Date

Furthermore, Agus himself stated that although there is news that Jerry Aurum has appealed, he still doesn't know exactly when this appeal hearing will be held.

"If we don't know when it will be held, usually the High Court will immediately issue a verdict, then it will be conveyed to the District Court, whether it will be upheld or overturned," he added.
