Jessica Kumala Wongso's Beaming Smile After Being Granted Parole from Pondok Bambu Prison

Outside Pondok Bambu Prison, media crews had been waiting since morning to cover Jessica's release moment. Upon arriving outside, Jessica, accompanied by officials and her legal team, headed straight to her car.

Jessica's lawyer, Otto Hasibuan, had previously informed the media about this release via text message. In his message, Otto Hasibuan wrote, "We hereby inform you that Jessica Wongso is scheduled to be released from detention / Pondok Bambu prison tomorrow, August 18, 2024 (Sunday) at 9:00 AM."

Upon exiting the detention center, Jessica wore a navy blue shirt and cream-colored pants. She appeared to be accompanied by her legal team as well as the Pondok Bambu prison officers.

On her way to the car, Jessica smiled several times at the camera. Although the media crew was not allowed to approach and could only cover from outside the fence, Jessica still offered a friendly smile.

After that, Jessica was taken directly to the East Jakarta District Attorney's Office (Kejari). The next process is the handover to the East Jakarta Probation Office.

Hidayat Bostam, one of the lawyers for Jessica Kumala Wongso, explained, "To the East Jakarta District Attorney, in Prumpung. After that, it will be to Bapas, the handover of Jessica to her parents and her lawyer. So all handovers are at Bapas."

This conditional release marks the end of Jessica's detention at Pondok Bambu Prison. However, the legal process related to her case is still ongoing through the handover at East Jakarta Bapas.
