"Hollywood is very safe. So actors shouldn't be too tired, shouldn't be injured, because they have insurance that covers them," said Joe Taslim. He stated this when met in the Kemang area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (16/10/2025).

"You could say it's humane, but at the same time, it's also very, very indulgent," he added.

This is in stark contrast to the work culture in the Asian film industry, especially the Hong Kong style. There, actors are required to perform almost all dangerous scenes by themselves, which makes their workload much heavier.

"In the Asian style, especially the Hong Kong style, actors have to do everything. Actors work hard in the sense that shooting is hard work, we have to do everything ourselves," he explained.

Even so, according to Joe, both systems have their own advantages and disadvantages. Hollywood offers a lower risk of injury, but the maximum and authentic results are often more felt in Asian productions.

"The maximum results can be achieved in Asia. Because when we do our own scenes, working hard ourselves, the images don’t lie," he said.

In the film industry, the approach taken significantly affects the results in the film. He exemplified how audiences can easily recognize the use of stunt doubles in Hollywood films through quick scene cuts.

"Once it's cut, every two seconds we know that's not him, right," he concluded.
