Kapanlagi.com - The horror comedy film AGAK LAEN has successfully become a phenomenon in the Indonesian film industry. However, not many know that there is a role of senior actor Kiki Narendra behind the acting performance of the comedians starring in it.

Kiki Narendra revealed that he was asked to train the members of the 'AGAK LAEN' group before they started the shooting process. This was due to their background as comedians who did not have a strong acting foundation for feature films.

"So because the gang, the marathon gang, they don't have experience in acting. They don't have experience in acting, I got the opportunity to give them a few days of workshop," he said when met at MD Place, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Thursday (15/01/2026).

1. Transfer of Basic Acting Knowledge

In a very short time, Kiki had to transfer the basic knowledge of acting to Oki Rengga, Bene Dion, Indra Jegel, and Boris Bokir. He designed a special program so that they would be ready to face the film camera, which demands detailed expressions.

"Just for the basics of acting. Because I want to, 'Sir, these kids don't know what acting is like yet. Okay, I'll create a two-day program, a two or three-day workshop'," Kiki recalled.

2. Proud to See the Acting of Impromptu Students

After undergoing the crash training, the comedians were immediately thrown into production. Kiki felt proud to see his impromptu students successfully delivering their roles well, leading the film to become a hit in the market.

"So, they participated in the workshop. Yes, then they... jumped straight into the film. They jumped right in," he explained.

3. Hope for Collaboration Again

Seeing the great success of the film and its future plans, Kiki jokingly hopes to be involved again. Not just as a mentor or guest, but perhaps as part of the cast in the next sequel.

"Hopefully, if there is a third season, I will be invited again not just as a guest but as a member," he joked.

4. Acting in a Stripping Soap Opera

On the same occasion, Kiki Narendra, who has been known for his idealism in choosing roles in films, discussed his decision to step out of his comfort zone by accepting an offer to act in a television series or stripping soap opera titled Keluarga Yang Tak Dirindukan.

This decision certainly draws attention, considering Kiki Narendra has a strong track record in the film and theater industry since being mentored by Slamet Rahardjo in 2009. He took this step not without reason, but as a form of self-proving to conquer new challenges in the acting world that he has never ventured into before.

"Honestly, this will be a challenge for me. I have never acted in 'electronic cinema' (soap operas)," he said.

5. Adaptation to Work Rhythm

In this MDTV production series, Kiki is cast as the character Mr. Santoso, a father with two children named Firza and Topan. This role requires him to adapt to a work rhythm that is very different from the feature film productions he usually performs.

Kiki admits that the world of soap operas, or what is now often called stripping series, is something completely foreign to him. He feels like a new student who has to learn from scratch, even though his experience in the acting world is already very high.

"If they say stripping series now, I have never done it. So I think this is a step for me as well. I learn a lot here, I gain a lot of knowledge from these people," he continued.

6. A Different World

The difference in the working mechanisms between films and soap operas is felt very significantly by this middle-aged actor. He does not compare which one is better, but realizes that both are worlds that have completely different ecosystems.

"It really can't be compared between films and this electronic cinema. Because it's completely a different world," explained Kiki.

7. Nervous During First Shooting

Although experienced, Kiki does not deny feeling nervous when he first stepped onto the shooting location for the rush production. The sensation of starting something from scratch brings him a unique joy.

"So for me, it's really fun if we can start something from scratch again. Hopefully the results can be enjoyed. I'm nervous, Mas, yes," he concluded.
