Known as a Serious Actor, Oka Antara Makes Comedy Film Debut Because of Ernest Prakasa

Oka is involved in a film titled GARA-GARA WARISAN by Muhadkly Acho under the production house of Starvision. He plays the character named Adam, the eldest of three siblings who compete for an inheritance in the form of a guest house.

1. Involved in Comedy Because of Ernest Prakasa

Of course, many people did not expect Oka Antara to play in a comedy genre film. However, he agreed to be involved because he believed in the big name of Ernest Prakasa as a producer who has produced films with millions of viewers.

"Besides the honor, I wanted to play in this film because Ernest is a box office comedy film producer. Since I have never tried comedy before, I rely fully on someone who really understands it. Because I feel very inexperienced in the comedy battlefield," said Oka when met at Metropole XXI, Pegangsaan area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (24/3/2022).

2. Already Know Each Other for a Long Time

Previously, Oka Antara and Ernest Prakasa had already known each other even though they had never been invited to work together. When he got an offer to be involved in Ernest's film, he didn't want to waste the first opportunity to act in a comedy.

"As people say, there is always a first time. And I am very proud to be able to work with Ernest. We have known each other for a long time, often giving each other advice and talking on the phone, but we have never had the opportunity to work together in a film. With this invitation, I feel like Ernest can see another side of me that can be processed and presented differently from before," said the father of three.

3. Sibling Rivalry for Inheritance

GARA-GARA WARISAN tells the story of siblings Adam, Laras and Dicky who gather to compete for their father's guest house inheritance. The competition is colored by emotions due to many underlying problems.

This film stars Oka Antara, Indah Permatasari, and Ge Pamungkas who play the roles of siblings. It is also enlivened by Yayu Unru, Sheila Dara, Arie Kriting, Ira Wibowo, Lukman Sardi, Hesti Purwadinata, and also Ernest Prakasa.

4. Delayed One Year

The comedy drama GARA-GARA WARISAN, produced by Ernest Prakasa and Chand Parwez, was actually prepared to be screened during Eid al-Fitr 2021. However, it was only able to get a chance this year after the Covid-19 numbers gradually decreased. "We planned this film to be screened during Eid al-Fitr 2021. We have prepared for it, finished shooting in April 2021 to catch up with Eid. But it turns out it's only this year," said Chand Parwez in a press conference at Metropole XXI, Pegangsaan area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (24/3/2022).

5. Initial Idea from Ernest Prakasa

The film GARA-GARA WARISAN is indeed a film directed and written by Muhadkly Acho. However, initially the idea for this film came from Ernest Prakasa, who then handed it over to Acho to execute.

"I discussed everything with Mr. Parwez. Then the premise of one family with three children talking about inheritance came up and all three have equally important motivations. We hope that the audience will be confused about who to support because all three are worthy and in need. The discussion only went that far. After talking to Acho, it turns out that he can connect this with something personal for him. Finally, Acho wrote the script and directed it too," said Ernest.
