Kapanlagi.com - The band Kotak sends an open summons to Posan Tobing. Tantri, Cua, and Cella ask Posan to revoke the ban on singing their songs together.
This is stated in the open summons previously sent by Posan and Julia, former members of Kotak, which prohibited the use of their songs and songs created together.
The jointly created songs that are banned include Masih Cinta (composed by Pay Burman, Dewiq, Posan, Cella, and Tantri), Kosong Teojoeh (composed by Pay Burman, DewiQ, Posan, Cella), Tinggalkan Saja (composed by Pay Burman, DewiQ, Posan, Cella), Pelan-Pelan Saja (composed by Pay Burman, DewiQ, Tantri, Cella, and Chua), and Selalu Cinta (composed by Pay Burman, DewiQ, Posan, Cella, and Tantri).

"But regarding their legal notice about the songs created together at that time, there are several songs, we must declare our objection to the ban on those songs. Because we are the creators too," said Sheila A. Salomo, representing KotaK's legal counsel, in a press conference in Central Jakarta, Wednesday (26/7/2023).
"Based on that, we counter-sue for Haposan to revoke the ban on the songs created together. That is our response to the opened legal notice," she continued.
Regarding royalties from the songs created together, the members of Kotak feel that it is unnecessary to discuss it anymore. Moreover, all this time, the members of Kotak have always been obedient in paying royalties for the songs they perform on stage.
"For royalties, KotaK highly appreciates song creation and respects songwriters. There is no desire for KotaK to eliminate it," said Sheila.
Before performing at an event, Kotak always includes in their contract that the event organizer must pay performance royalty in advance to WAMI.
"One of the things KotaK has done to support copyright is to require and remind event organizers to pay royalties before KotaK performs," Sheila concluded.
In response to Posan's open summons regarding the use of the name Kotak and the prohibition of using Posan and Julia's songs, Kotak stated that they have not sung Posan's songs on stage for a long time.
As for the name Kotak, which is recognized as Posan's property, it is not justified because they were formed from a talent search.
