The mother of Lady Nayoan, Rima Sania Pontoh, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 19:23 WIB. Her passing leaves a deep sorrow for Lady Nayoan and her husband, Rendy Kjaernett.
Lady revealed that her mother's illness actually began with kidney stones that had been present for a long time, even since Lady was still in the womb. The stones were later found to have developed into cancer.
"There was nothing. So my mom has a high pain tolerance. It all started with kidney stones. But strangely, the kidney stone that eventually turned into cancer, when checked by pathology, turned out to be as old as I am," said Lady Nayoan when met at the funeral home of Adian Nasonang Raya, Mustika Jaya, Bekasi, Tuesday (25/8/2026).
The stone was only detected as large in 2023, leading to the removal of her mother's right kidney. Since then, her mother has only lived with one kidney.
"Until finally, it turned out there was a stone inside, and the stone was quite large, about 5 cm inside my mom's kidney in 2023. So her right kidney was immediately removed at that time," said Lady.
After the operation, the mother underwent chemotherapy and radiation regularly until the end of 2024. Cancer reappeared in the bladder in June 2025, but it was successfully addressed through a minor surgical procedure.
"It was taken from the bladder. So it's not the kidney anymore, the kidney is fine, but it turns out there was something that dropped into the bladder. But the cancer cells are still the same, called Adenocarcinoma, that's kidney cancer," explained Lady.
The condition improved for a while but then relapsed again in June 2026. Since then, the mother's health continued to decline until she eventually passed away.
"Until yesterday, June 2026, it relapsed again, underwent TUR again but failed. Once it failed, her condition started to decline because her urinary tract was obstructed, causing fluid to back up into the kidney, damaging the one kidney that was left," concluded Lady.
Lady Nayoan's mother was happy that her son-in-law chose the path of life as a servant of God.
