Kapanlagi.com - Leony Vitria revealed the reason behind her decision to leave the singing world and focus as an actress. The turning point in her career occurred after Trio Kwek Kwek disbanded in 2001.
"Actually, since the Trio Kwek Kwek disbanded in 2001. At that time I was in the first year of junior high school. I immediately got an offer for an FTV titled 'Don't Call Me Chinese'," said Leony when met in the Dharmawangsa area, South Jakarta, on Sunday (30/8/2026).
From that first project, her journey continued to several soap operas and various other acting jobs. In her teenage years, she considered two paths, singing, including having made one solo album, and acting.
"From there, I continued to soap operas and other projects. In my teenage years, I had a comparison between singing (I once made a solo album) and acting. It turns out I much prefer acting. I feel I can explore myself more in front of the camera as an actor," she said.
Besides the interest in acting, Leony admitted that she lost confidence in her vocal abilities as she entered her teenage years.
This contrasts with her childhood as one of the well-known child singers.
"When I entered high school, I started to feel uncomfortable on stage singing. I felt my voice was just average. In my opinion, if you want to be a professional adult singer, your vocal talent has to be really good," she said.
Leony mentioned that she often criticizes her own singing ability. From there, she then made the decision to fully transition to the world of acting.
"I often criticize myself, 'Your voice is bad, you shouldn't be a singer.' Because I'm someone who is honest with myself, I chose a field where I feel more comfortable, which is acting," she concluded.
On that occasion, she emphasized her choice to focus on her career as an actress.
