In addition to Liputan.com, there are six players who also won the Vaccine Grant Program. The six winners are from several countries such as Reuters (United States), VishvasNews (India), Aos Fatos (Brazil), Africa Check (South Africa), EFE Verifica (Spain), and Full Fact (United Kingdom).

1. Aim to Curb the Covid-19 Pandemic

As we know, the Covid-19 pandemic is still ongoing. With this deadly virus, the Vaccine Grant Program has been launched amidst this crisis.

The aim of the program is to assist fact-checking organizations worldwide in enhancing their capacity to combat misinformation related to the COVID-19 vaccine. Additionally, it is also expected to curb and end the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Fact-checkers around the world have been working hard to inform the public about the importance of vaccination, as well as the safety of clinically approved vaccines, to end the pandemic," said IFCN Director Baybars Orsek in a statement released on Monday, April 26, 2021, US time, as reported by Liputan.com.

"We are delighted to witness the diverse and innovative strategies employed by fact-checking organizations to reach more people by providing factual information amidst the implementation of the global vaccination program," he added.

2. Selected Through a Rigorous Selection Process

Out of the seven winners of the Vaccine Grant Program, they were selected through a rigorous selection process from over 70 candidates who applied from around the world.

With the seven winners already determined, Laurens Lauer, a member of the selection panel and research associate at the University Duisburg-Essen, Germany, expressed his joy.

"The recipients represent diverse efforts from the global fact-checking community to improve its efficiency in combating false health information, including those related to COVID-19 vaccination," said Lauer.

3. Expressing Gratitude and Commitment from Liputan6.com

The Editor-in-Chief of Liputan6.com, Irna Gustiawati, expressed her gratitude for the support of the Vaccine Grant Program.

"We are grateful to be entrusted by IFCN and WhatsApp to participate in movements against vaccine and COVID-19 misinformation together with six other international fact-checking organizations," she said.

Having lasted for over a year, Irna added that prevention such as behavior change and vaccination needs to continue to be promoted. 4. Second Award

The Vaccine Grant Program is the second award received by Liputan6.com from IFCN.

In 2020, Liputan6.com received the Coronavirus Fact-Checking Grant from the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) and Facebook.
