Kapanlagi.com - Hanung Bramantyo is currently in the process of shooting a film titled GOWOK: KAMASUTRA JAWA. This drama thriller explores the existence of sexual shamans in the 1960s.
Hanung has chosen Lola Amaria to play a role in his film after the actress spent ten years behind the scenes. He gave Lola the role of Nyai Santi, an experienced Gowok.

Since the existence of Gowok has been replaced by the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA), Lola Amaria admits to being challenged when asked to bring the character Nyai Santi to life. She read journals and novels that discuss sexual shamans.
"I have known about Gowok for a long time. Because I already knew where this film was going, I did my own research. Since the original Gowok no longer exists, I read from journals, novels, and reviews that touch on Gowok. I found out the do's and dont's," said Lola when met by KapanLagi.com at Gamplong Studio, Yogyakarta.

Lola Amaria's preparation to be involved in GOWOK: KAMASUTRA JAWA is not just research to bring the character to life. Because she had to learn how to walk and behave like a woman in the 1960s.
"Preparation was quite difficult because after years of being away, everything is different. Different generation and I am already considered a mother, aunt. Then throughout the film, I wear kebaya and there is education (sex education) that makes me interested in being involved," said Lola.
