Long Time No Hear, Jean Girsang Prioritizes Family and Focuses on Writing Career Personal Documentation

Kapanlagi.com - Jean Girsang is known through the Putri Pariwisata 2011 event representing DKI Jakarta. Jean also became more well-known after she became Putri Pangan 2011. Long time no hear, Jean Girsang, who has been married for almost 9 years to Arkie Tumbelaka, prioritizes her family and focuses on her writing career.

Before getting married, Jean was quite busy with her shooting schedule and admitted that she had ventured into the world of presenting. She has hosted World Cup events and sports events. But then after she got married, Jean chose to focus on becoming an influencer and a writer.

"I started entering social media just after becoming a mother. So before that, I was shooting here and there. Then giving birth and staying at home, at first it was normal going here and there, but now I feel unproductive at home. Finally, I started writing. But at first, I wrote about my childbirth experience," said Jean Girsang.

1. First Childbirth Experience

It is known that Jane became pregnant with her first child at the age of 30, after enjoying the dating period after being married to her husband for 4 years by traveling abroad or out of town. Apparently, the experience of giving birth to her first child was not easy. In the 7th month of pregnancy, Jane's unborn child was diagnosed with a condition called single umbilical artery by the doctor. Since there was no information about this anywhere, Jane Girsang decided to write and share about this issue with the community who really needed it.

"Because in the 7th month I was pregnant, the doctor said the baby has a single umbilical artery. So there is a 25% chance of heart defects. Shocking, right? I couldn't find any information about it anywhere. Googling didn't help, and no one even shared about this on blogs," said Jane.

Because of this, Jane Girsang had difficulty giving birth naturally due to the high risks involved and decided to have a cesarean section.

"Thank God the baby was checked and everything was normal, it's just a bit difficult for a normal delivery because of the risks. Normally, there should be 3 openings in the baby's umbilical cord. 1 vein and 2 arteries, but in my case, there is only 1 vein and 1 artery. This affects the nutrition intake and waste disposal during pregnancy. It could still be normal, but in my case, the baby's neck was wrapped twice, so if it's a normal delivery, the stress increases due to the wrapping and the oxygen supply with only 2 openings is not optimal, and the baby could turn blue. That's why I opted for a cesarean section," Jane explained.

2. Helping Many People

Starting from the experience of giving birth to her first child, which was quite stressful for her, a woman named Jane Augustine Girsang then wrote everything during the time she focused on her family. Who would have thought that many people would read it and experience similar things.

"Well, because of my experience that I was stressed and stressed during those times. Finally, when I stayed at home for 3 months, I shared my story on Instagram and started a blog too. From there, many people read it and said, 'Wow, I also experienced this but no one shared it. When I found Mom Jean's writing, I felt relieved...' even some of them recommended me to their doctor and some even gave birth there," said Jane Girsang.

Through her writing, Jane also tells stories of how many parents were helped and shared their experiences about parenting. Not only that, Jane Girsang admitted to meeting new communities and other moms who support each other online.

"Since I felt that my writing helped me share my experiences and it turned out that many people were helped. I continued in the world of sharing about parenting. Sharing and reviewing the breastfeeding period to useful items when having a baby. So the change is significant, but it's more exciting because I feel like I'm meeting new communities and other moms who support each other online," explained this mother of 2.

3. Likes Travelling

This 34-year-old woman has a hobby of travelling. Before getting married, she traveled around with her husband. But when she had a child, Jean chose to stay at home and focus on taking care of her family.

However, Jean admits that she was bored at first when taking care of her children because she was only at home. That became the reason she became a writer to share her experiences and as an outlet for her thoughts.

"It's like an outlet for my thoughts haha
But then it continued, and it became a job. In the past, when I was active in 2016, I could still count as a parenting influencer. So yeah, it's always the same person. But now there are sooo many," Jane said.

Because she has different priorities, Jean Girsang now prioritizes the needs of her children's education and tutoring. Jean also said that she is temporarily postponing her hobby and waiting for her children to grow up and be able to travel together.

However, Jean admits that before the pandemic and having her second child, she took her first child to go abroad and travel to other cities. She also mentioned that she is more cautious during this pandemic if she wants to leave the house.

4. Taking Care of Children During a Pandemic

Having two children is a challenge for Jane Girsang during this pandemic, especially because they are still toddlers. Jane always observes the behavior of her two children to maintain their physical and mental health.

"Make sure both of them eat nutritious food and are mentally healthy and developing well. Because the first 1000 days until the age of 2 (golden age) also includes interaction with people or adapting to new places. It also affects them, so they don't become afraid when meeting new people," she explained.

To relieve stress due to the effects of the pandemic and not being able to go anywhere, Jane Girsang does things she enjoys such as watching, using her phone, online shopping, creating content, or simply leaving her children with her parents and going shopping. By doing so, Jane feels better and returns home.

"I make arrangements with my parents or in-laws to take care of the children, because I didn't use a nanny from the beginning. So I personally take care of all the children. So when I go to work, I leave them with my parents," Jane explained.

Jane Girsang also hopes that the pandemic will end soon, as it has had many impacts, including on her job. He wants his children to go back to school normally. Not only that, Jane Girsang also misses traveling and the pandemic has a big impact on tourist places.

"When Princess Tourism was on duty, she promoted Indonesian tourism very well. Now they have few visitors.
So I want things to go back to normal so that the economy can start running again. But most importantly, I hope Indonesia and the world can become healthy again," said Jane Girsang.
